Proverbs 21:20
NIV—In the house of the wise are stores
of choice food and oil.
NAS—There is precious treasure and oil
in the dwelling of the wise.
Proverbs 24:3-4
KJV—Through wisdom is an house
builded; and by understanding it is established:
And by knowledge shall the chambers be
filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
NIV—By wisdom a house is built, and
through understanding it is established;
through knowledge its rooms are filled
with rare and beautiful treasures.
Amp—Through skillful and godly Wisdom
is a house [a life, a home, a family] built,
and by understanding it is established [on
a sound and good foundation]. And by
knowledge shall the chambers [of its every
area] be filled with all precious and pleasant
riches.
Isaiah 54:13
KJV—And all thy children shall be taught
of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of
thy children.
Amp—And all your [spiritual] children
shall be disciples—taught of the Lord
[and obedient to His will]; and great shall
be the peace and undisturbed composure
of your children.
NAS—And all your sons will be taught of
the Lord; and the well-being of your sons
will be great.
Isaiah 59:21
NIV—“As for me, this is my covenant
with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit, who
is on you, and my words that I have put
in your mouth will not depart from your
mouth, or from the mouths of your children,
or from the mouths of their descendants
from this time on and forever,” says
the Lord.
Amp—As for Me, this is My covenant
or league with them, says the Lord: My
Spirit Who is upon you [and Who writes
the law of God inwardly in the heart], and
My words which I have put in your mouth,
shall not depart out of your mouth, or
out of the mouth of your [true, spiritual]
children, or out of the mouth of your children’s
children, says the Lord, from henceforth
and for ever.
Acts 2:39
KJV—For the promise is unto you, and to
your children, and to all that are afar off,
even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Amp—For the promise (of the Holy
Spirit) is to and for you and your children,
and to and for all that are far away, [even]
to as many as the Lord our God invites
and bids come to Himself.
Acts 16:31
KJV—Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
NIV—Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you
will be saved—you and your household.
Amp—Believe in and on the Lord Jesus
Christ—that is, give yourself up to Him,
take yourself out of your own keeping and
entrust yourself into His keeping, and you
will be saved; [and this applies both to]
you and your household as well.
Ephesians 4:26-27
NIV—“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let
the sun go down while you are still angry,
and do not give the devil a foothold.
Amp—When angry, do not sin; do not
ever let your wrath—your exasperation,
your fury or indignation—last until the
sun goes down. Leave no [such] room or
foothold for the devil—give no opportunity
to him.
Weymouth—If angry, beware of sinning.
Let not your irritation last until the sun
goes down; and do not leave room for
the devil.
